On January 1, 2013 the Lord called home Charles Jasper Hutchison of Toledo, Iowa. Charles, or Hutch as he was known to many, was born in Sallis, Mississippi.

He entered the U.S. Army in 1945 and honorably served his country during WWII ending his tour of duty at Camp Lee in Petersburg, Virginia in 1947. It was also in Petersburg where Charles met and married Helen Mae Brummett, originally from the Belleville/Nashville area of Illinois.

After completing his military career, Charles and Helen moved to the Delta area of Mississippi and returned to farming cotton with his father and where his first son, Charles Curtis, was born in 1948 in Kosciusko.

In 1949 Charles and Helen relocated to East St. Louis, Illinois where he began a 43-year career with Darling-Delaware Co., Inc. and where in 1950 his second son, Robert Ray, was born in East St. Louis, Illinois.

In 1959, Charles was transferred to Houston, Texas where he became the facility plant manager for Darling and ultimately its General Manager. In 1961, their third son, Dave Dennis, was born in Houston.

Away from work he enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, the Houston Astros, the Atlanta Braves and coaching Little League Baseball.

Charles retired in 1991 after a 43-year career. He and Helen moved to Toledo, Iowa to be closer to his son, Dave. He bowled until the age of 80 earning numerous trophies, awards and patches, and was annually invited to various state tournaments across Iowa.

Charles left behind his beloved wife of 65-years Helen Mae (Brummett) Hutchison of Toledo, Iowa; his only surviving son, Dave Dennis Hutchison of Toledo, Iowa; his brother Jim (Bettie Alice) Hutchison of Brandon; his sister Dorothy “Dot” (Hutchison) Dendy of West; his brother Danny Hutchison of Clinton.
