Betty Joyce Blanton Longmire, 75, of Kenner, LA, went to live with our Heavenly Father on Nov. 16, 2012.
Preceded in death by her loving parents, Elmer and Faye Blanton of Kosciusko, and her beloved son, Jeffey Randall Longmire, she is survived by her devoted husband of 54 years, John T. Longmire Jr., daughter, Sharon L. Walden of Baton Rouge, LA, son, John Timothy Longmire of Monroe, MI., son, Stephen Anthony Longmire (wife Adelaida) of Gulfport, and brother, Dr. Ladell Blanton (wife Maryella) of Kosciusko, and two grandchildren.
Born in Kosciusko, April 14, 1937, she graduated from the Baptist Hospital’s Gilfoy School of Nursing in Jackson. She worked as a surgical nurse in Jackson, Shreveport, LA, Malboro, NJ, and Metairie, LA, where she was a surgery supervisor, clinical director, and evening supervisor until her retirement in 2003.
Friends and family are invited to attend services at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. on Nov. 21, 2012. Visitation is from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. with a funeral service in the chapel at 2 p.m.
Interment will follow in Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in her honor to the American Cancer Society or to the charity of choice.
