Ersal Daugherty Miller

Ersal Daugherty Miller of Longview, Texas, formerly of Attala County, passed away Jan. 29, 2010 at the age of 99.

Born Aug. 26, 1910 in Attala County, she was the loving daughter of the late Nancy Horn and Robert L. Daugherty. She made her home in Winona and Greenville, MS, then later in Memphis. In August of 1999, she moved to Longview, Texas, where she resided at Eastman Estates for 10 years. She will be missed by all who knew her. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend.

She was preceded in death by her loving husbands, Ira B. Pope and Chester L. Miller Sr.; her sons, Chester L. Miller Jr. and Edward W. “Eddie” Miller; brothers, Robert H. Daugherty and Marvin D. Daugherty; her sister, Ruby Blocker; and three grandchildren, Christopher J. “Chris” Miller, Robert M. “Bobby” Miller Jr. and Chester L. “Chet” Miller III.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children and their spouses, Ira G. Pope and wife Delores, Robert M. Miller and wife Jo Nell; daughter-in-law, Blanche Miller; grandchildren, Scott Pope, Lisa Eacret, Susan Sliney, Melanie Miller, Edward Miller, Stephen Miller, David Miller and Scott Miller. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to the staff of Eastman Estates for their loving care and kindness. Memorials may be made to her favorite charity, St. Jude’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or to the charity of your choice.

Visitation will be Friday, Feb. 5, 2010 from noon to 2 p.m. at Jordan Funeral. Funeral services will be Friday, Feb. 5, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Jordan Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Nile Cemetery.
