KOSCIUSKO —
Howard Brooks McWhorter was born on September 26th 1929 to Clifton and Esther R.L. McWhorter in Kosciusko. He was born into eternal life on December 31st 2012.
His life was marked by service to God, Country, Family and Community. A 30 year veteran of the Navy Dental Corps., he retired to private life in Biloxi, in 1983. While in Biloxi, he served the Lord at the First Baptist Church of Biloxi as a deacon as well as a volunteer in many church programs supporting the seniors' ministry.
In 2006, he and his loving wife moved to Mobile AL where he spent the final years of his life surrounded by family.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Maude McWhorter; children, Cliff McWhorter, David McWhorter and wife Stacy, and Amy McWhorter Smith and husband David; grandchildren Maggie, Michael, Joey, Allyson McWhorter, Bethany and Chase Smith and Wayne and Lindsay Blackwood (nee Smith) and great-grandchildren Lily McWhorter, Michael and Kaylyn Blackwood.
Brooks as he was known to all, had a true servant’s heart. Whenever and wherever he saw a need, he did what he could to fill it.
Visitation will be on Thursday, January 3, 2013 from 6 to 8: p.m. at Reimann Family Funeral Home, 274 Beauvoir Road in Biloxi.
On Friday, January 4, at 11 a.m., there will be a graveside service with military honors at the National Cemetery in Biloxi. The funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 10:40 a.m.
