James Irving Gunter, age 74, of Greenwood, died Monday November 19, 2012 at his residence from heart failure.
He was born in Attala County October 7, 1938 to the late Charles Carter and Eula Myrtle Strayhand Gunter and resided in the Greenwood and Attala County area all of his life. He was a deacon at Lighthouse Ministries Church in Greenwood and was a retired self employed truck driver.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlene Gunter, and a brother, Edgar Gunter.
Funeral Services were held at 2 p.m., Friday, Nov. 23, in Old Plank Cemetery in Vaiden, with Rev. Larry Shackleford officiating.
Pallbearers were Dayton Harris, Sr., Nathan Harris, Dayton Harris, Jr., David Gunter, Allen Gunter and Tim Robertson. Burial will be in Old Plank Cemetery.
He is survived by four daughters, Kathy Harris of Carrollton, Vickie Patterson of Greenwood, Janet Chaney of Pope and Patricia Gunter of Pearl; brother, Charles Gunter of Oklahoma City, OK.; two sisters, Margaret Brown of Laurel and Jane Goza of Terry, eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to Lighthouse Ministries Church in Greenwood.
