Lula Charlene Saxton Pilgrim, 80, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 27, 2012 at Madison County Nursing Home in Canton.
A lifelong resident of Yazoo County, she was born March 27th, 1932.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Lula Saxton, two sisters, Eloise Warren and Louise Triggs, and a grandson, Clayton Pilgrim.
Charlene is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, James Earl Pilgrim; four sons, David, Phillip (Shirley), Mike (Jo) and John (Kelli); two daughters, Janie Adcock and Elizabeth (Jim) Golden; 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; her twin brother, Charles Saxton; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Charlene was an active member of Pickens Presbyterian Church and had a deep, abiding faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was a devoted wife and mother, doting grandmother, and a gentle soul whose caring for others was always evident.
Visitation was at Culpepper Funeral Home in Canton, from 5-7 p.m. on Saturday, with an additional time of brief visitation at 2 p.m. on Sunday preceding the 2:30 p.m. funeral service at Pickens Presbyterian Church.
Interment in the Hart-town Cemetery followed the celebration of her life and praise offered to God by the Rev. David Schultz and her grandson, Rev. Brad Adcock.
Her grandsons served as pallbearers.
