Beulah Emma Huffman Carter, 95, of Lexington, passed away January 3, 2013.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 5, at Harland Creek Baptist Church, with burial following at the Harland Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation was held at 10 a.m. Saturday. Rev. Roger Richardson and Rev. Craig Bryant officiated the services.

Pallbearers were the grandsons.

Mrs. Carter was a member of Harland Creek Baptist Church. She retired from E & W Shirt Factory and worked at Ingalls Shipyard during World War II.

She is preceded in death by parents, George Washington and Lucy Mitchum Huffman; husbands, R.L. Abel and Joe S. Carter; daughter, Jeannette Rogers; sons, George D. Abel and Roger Carter; sisters, Veltey, Rita, Lester and Doris; brothers, George (G.W.) Jr., Solomon and Leonard.

She is survived by daughter, Ellen Beatrice Carter; sons, Phillip Landon Abel and Joe Ed Carter; sisters, Mary Bennett and Catherine Moore; 27 grandchildren.
