KOSCIUSKO —
Mary Metts Owen, 86, formerly of Clarksdale, died at her home in Kosciusko on February 15, 2013, after a brief illness.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Parkway Cemetery in Kosciusko. Rev. Barry Corbett will officiate.
Mrs. Owen was born February 18, 1926, in Durant, to Rev. James Marvin Metts, Sr. and Maggie Lee Suggett Metts. She taught high school music and business in Webb, Lula and Clarksdale. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Clarksdale Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Nancy Owen King, and her husband, Doug, of Kosciusko; a grandson, Owen D. King of Starkville; a nephew, James Edward (Linda) Metts of Elkin, NC; a niece, Kathy Metts Martin of Marianna, FL; and a sister-in-law, Martha Metts of Bradenton, FL.
Mrs. Owen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert H. Owen, Jr.; sisters, Frances Dickerson and Jane Eubank; and a brother, Rev. James M. Metts, Jr.
Pallbearers will be Dwyte Evans, Larry King, Paul Powers, Raybon Robertson, Robby Robertson and Toby Tyler.
