KOSCIUSKO —
Gary Kimble Myrick, 63, of Thomastown, passed away Thursday, October 18, 2012 at St. Dominic’s Hospital in Jackson.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, October 21, at Jordan Funeral Home in Kosciusko.
Services will be held Monday, October 22, at 11 a.m. at Jordan Funeral Home Chapel with nephew Rev. Dax Summerhill of Lake Butler, FL and long-time friend, Randy Coghlan of Kosciusko officiating.
A native of Thomastown, Gary was a graduate of Carthage High School, East Central Community College, and Delta State University and received his MED from Mississippi State University. Gary, affectionately known as Coach Myrick, was an educator and coach in the Winona Public School District, Forest Separate School District and Kosciusko Separate School District.
Over the past ten years, Gary officiated basketball for both public and private schools. In addition to his love for coaching and refereeing basketball games, his passion for teaching was evident from the love and respect he earned for all his students.
Survivors include: son, Grant Myrick of Madison, and his fiancé, Rachael Shannon of Flowood; sister, Nancy Summerhill Gross and husband, Johnny of Madison; brother, Danny Pearl Myrick and wife, Gina of Flowood; longtime girlfriend, Vivian Burrell of Sardis; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lester Kimble Myrick; mother, Hattie Myrick Arnold; and brother-in-law, Jim Summerhill.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Thomastown Baptist Church in Thomastown.
