Azzell Benton


Funeral services for Azzell Benton, 79, of Kosciusko were held June 27 at 11 a.m. at Wesley United Methodist Church with burial in Parkway Cemetery.

Benton, a brick mason, died June 23, 2009 at the Mississippi State Veterans Home. The Indiana native was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church where he served as an usher, Sunday School teacher, trustee, member of the PPR Committee and United Methodist Men.

He is survived by his wife, Maudie M. Benton; daughters, Cynthia (Ronnie) Agnew of Madison, Shyrell D. (Marshall) Johnson of Memphis, and Angela R. Benton of Atlanta, Ga.; son, Antonnio C. (Tonyia) Benton of Hattiesburg; 10 grandchildren, two sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Rev. Antonnio C. Benton officiated with Myricks Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
