Yes, the lights are off outside the courthouse

KOSCIUSKO — When you want to know the answer to something, just ask the people at the newspaper.

And, we are glad to fill the role when we can.

Several newspaper patrons have asked over the last two weeks – Why don’t the lamp lights outside the Attala County Courthouse shine at night?

On Tuesday after a chat with Chancery Clerk Gerry Taylor, I found out that an electrical short has caused the darkness around the courthouse.

The county is currently gathering price quotes to restore the outside lights.

Newspaper bandits

Nothing irritates me more than thieves – especially newspaper bandits.

The last two to three months, newspapers have been stolen from the rack outside the Star-Herald office.

I presume it’s for the coupons inside.

At 75 cents a paper, I promise you are still getting savings in each edition.

You can usually find 75 cents in your car or in your couch cushions. Why steal?

Measures are being taken at the office to catch these crooks.
