Mustangs ‘trampled’ by Aberdeen Bulldogs

McClain finishes season at 9-4

ABERDEEN —

The J. J. McClain Mustangs traveled to Aberdeen last Friday night to take on the Bulldogs in the second round of the Class 3A State Playoffs and lost the contest 46-16.  The Mustangs finish the 2012 season with a 9-4 record.

The Bulldogs jumped on the Mustangs early and often and led 13-0 after the first quarter.  The Mustangs found the end zone in the second quarter, but the Bulldogs found it three more times to take a 33-8 lead into the half.

The Mustangs were able to shut the Bulldogs out in the third quarter and were able to push another score across themselves to make the score 33-16 entering the fourth quarter.  The Mustangs would not score again and the Bulldogs added to their tally to push the lead to 46-16 and easily won the contest.

The Mustangs turned the football over six times in the contest by throwing five interceptions and losing one fumble.

They gave up 255 yards through the air and 191 yards on the ground to the Bulldogs.  The Aberdeen Bulldogs will play the Charleston Tigers Friday night with the winner advancing to the Class 3A North State Championship game.
