ETHEL —

Two Ethel Tigers seniors, Justin Self and Hunter Chisholm, were honored for their on field accomplishments during the 2012 football season.

Both athletes were selected to the All-State second team, Self as a strong safety and Chisholm as a punter.

Self had 105 total tackles on the year with four interceptions, two fumble recoveries and one caused fumble.

“I was surprised and excited when coach (Jim) Wood presented me with my certificate,” said Self.  “I’ve worked hard every year since I started playing varsity in the ninth grade, and to receive this honor is humbling.”

Chisholm punted the ball 27 times for the Tigers with a 36.7-yard average and he had a long of 60 yards.

“I was very glad to receive this honor,” said Chisholm.  “I’ve punted since my 10th grade year and being right handed, I kick with my left foot.  It always surprised people on how good I could punt.  Hopefully I might get a chance to continue punting on the next level.”  Self stated that he was not finished playing football either and will try out for several junior college teams this spring.

Self is currently playing on the Tiger basketball squad, and will take his position behind the plate for the baseball team this coming spring.

Chisholm is a key member of the Ethel Tiger powerlifting team and finished second in the state in his weight classification last year.
