The Lady Tigers of Ethel High School will be looking to pick up their first win of the season when they pay a visit to Noxapater on Thursday at 4 p.m.
EHS' season got off to a rough start over the weekend, as the Lady Tigers dropped a 23-3 decision to East Webster and lost 15-0 to Kosciusko. Then on Monday, Weir took an 18-4 win over EHS.
East Webster scored nine runs in the second inning and 10 in the fourth to take the win, while Ethel picked up single runs in the first, second and third innings.
Anna Dotson and Taylor Hannah each ripped triples for Ethel, while Lauren Bouchillon added a single.
The Lady Tigers ran into a buzz saw against Kosciusko, as the Lady Whippets Allison Ray tossed a three-inning no-hitter.
After a first inning that saw the two teams tied 1-1, Weir scored seven times in the second inning and four each in the third and fourth innings to pull out to the victory.
Shelby Varnes had two hits for Ethel, while Bouchillon had a triple and McNeal a double.
ACKERMAN
The Ackerman High School fast-pitch softball team jumped out to a 2-0 mark headed into a full slate of games this week.
After last Tuesday's game with Kosciusko was rained out, the Lady Indians beat Louisville 19-6 on Thursday, then rolled by West Point 14-3 on Friday.
Ackerman exploded for 115 runs in the third inning against Louisville to overcome a 5-3 deficit. The Lady Indians had four walks and nine hits in the inning, while every Lady Indian scored in the game.
Carmen Long smacked a pair of triples and a double, while driving in five runs to lead Ackerman, while Whitney Lance, Hannah McCulloch and Andrea Cutts had two hits each.
Erin Chandler picked up the win on the mound, striking out four and allowing just three hits and one earned run.
The big inning came in handy for Ackerman again against West Point, as the Lady Indians put up 12 runs in the third to turn a 3-2 deficit into a blowout win.
Cutts blasted a three-run homer for Ackerman in the game, while Long had three hits and four RBIs and Chandler had two doubles and a single. Frankie Maxwell had two hits for the winners, while Lance, McCulloch, Karina Brown and Haley Lucas had a hit each.
Chandler struck out three and allowed just three hits to take the win on the mound.
The Lady Indians were set to visit Starkville on Monday, before hosting the Yellow Jackets on Thursday, then taking part in the East Webster Tournament on Saturday.
