The Ethel Tigers traveled to Noxapater last Tuesday night and dropped the Region 5 contest 57-42 and then hosted the Weir Lions Friday night, winning this region contest 68-61.
The Tigers jumped on Noxapater quickly, and led 13-6 after the first quarter.
The Tigers could not maintain their first quarter momentum and were outscored by Noxapater 18-14 in the second quarter but still led 27-24 at the half.
Noxapater stiffened defensively in the third quarter holding the Tigers to just eight points while scoring 14 points to take a 38-35 lead into the fourth quarter.
Noxapater again stymied the Tiger offense allowing only seven points for the visitors while they exploded for 19 to take the region win, 57-42.
In last Friday night’s game against the Weir Lions the Tigers quickly got out in front of the visitors 19-9 after one quarter of play.
The Lions came roaring back in the second quarter by scoring 17 points, but the Tigers were able to put up 16 points of their own to take a 35-26 lead into the half.
The Lions couldn’t miss a shot in the third quarter out scoring the Tigers 24-7 to take a 50-42 lead into the fourth.
Just as quickly as the Lions jumped on the Tigers, Ethel turned it around and outscored the visitors 26-11 in the games final quarter to take the Region 5 win 68-61.
The Tigers hosted French Camp Tuesday night and will host West Lowndes next Tuesday night for a 6 p.m. Region 5 contest.
The Weir Lions hosted Nanih Waiya Tuesday night and will travel to French Camp for a 6 p.m. contest Friday night.
