DURANT —
For all intents and purposes, the Williams-Sullivan boys and girls basketball seasons were over after the Mississippi High School Activities Association’s initial ruling to ban the Yellowjackets from the playoffs.
The ruling was overturned February 7 by an executive committee of the MHSAA comprised of 15 members made up of school administrators from across the state.
The Yellowjackets had been banned from competing in the 2A State Playoffs after coach Habray Carter was disciplined for several technicals on the court in recent games, including a walk-off in a November game involving the girls team.
It is not known if Carter will continue to coach the team, but coach Adam Wells has coached the team’s last two games.
The Yellowjackets will begin play this week in the Region 5-2A Tournament at Madison St. Joseph.
W-S school officials did not return calls to The Star-Herald by press time Tuesday.
