The Kosciusko 7-year-olds took a 17-12 win over McComb to reach the finals of the Dixie Boys Coach-Pitch State Tournament but fell to Hattiesburg American 11-2 in the finals.
Kosy opened the tournament by dropping a 12-9 battle to McComb then fought all the way through the losers' bracket, beating Hattiesburg American 16-1 along the way.
In the tourney opening loss to McComb, Brandon Phillips, Choyce Diffey, Jacob Gibson and John-Braxton McBride had a single each for Kosy, while Phillips and Lucas Price scored two runs each. Gatlin Ellis, Gibson, Will Cook, Alex Schuster and Diffey each scored a run as well.
The second game saw Kosciusko score four runs each in the first and fourth innings to take a 9-6 win over Washington County. Schuster had two singles and scored a run to lead the winners, while Diffey had a triple and a run scored and Phillips smacked a double and scored a run.
Nolen Yuille and McBride each had a hit, while Price scored two runs and Walker Hill, Ellis, Cook and Yuille scored one each.
Kosciusko banged out 18 hits to knock off previously undefeated Hattiesburg American 16-1 in their third game of the tournament.
Phillips and Gibson had two singles and a double each to lead the winners, while Price popped a pair of doubles, Hill had a triple and single and triple, and Yuille had two singles. Diffey, McBride, Grayson Lacey and Riley Patton each added a hit as well.
Schuster, Price, Gibson and Yuille scored two runs each, while Lacey, Patton, McBride, Ellis, Hill, Cook, Diffey and Phillips each scored once.
In Kosy's 17-12 win over McComb, Diffey and Phillips had two hits each, while Schuster, Cook and McBride picked up a double apiece. Hill, Ellis, Gibson, Lacey, and Price each added singles. Diffey scored three runs for the winners, while Gibson, Hill, Cook, Phillips and Schuster had two each and Price, Ellis, McBride and Lacey had one each.
Schuster and Lacey each scored a run in the 11-2 championship game loss to Hattiesburg American.
