KOSCIUSKO —
Kosciusko Whippet Football season tickets for the 2010 season will go on sale Monday at a cost of $48 and will include six home games. Last year's season ticket holders will have the opportunity to purchase their tickets on Monday and Tuesday. On Wednesday, Aug. 4, remaining season tickets will be opened up to the general public on a first come, first served basis. Tickets may be purchased through the Kosciusko High School office from 8 a.m.-3 p.m.
Blazers take
one game lead in playoffs
The Blazers took an 85-66 win over the Nuggets in the first game of the Championship Series of the MPact Adult Basketball League in Kosciusko. The second game of the series is set for 7 p.m. Tuesday at Tipton Street Gym. The third game, if necessary, would be played Monday at 7.
The Blazers, the top-seeded team entering the tournament, took a 45-32 lead at the half and rolled to the victory. James Little had 27 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Blazers, while Isaac Greenwood had 26 points and 15 rebounds.
Dequindrex Rhodes had 19 points and 10 boards for the Nuggets, while Frank Steward scored 16.
Bowhunters
benefit shoot
set Saturday
The Attala Bowhunters will host a benefit shoot this Saturday to help with the medical expenses of Danny Burrell. All classes will be awarded trophies. If there are any questions call Craig Lawrence at 601-416-8569.
Soccer camp
huge success
The 2010 British Challenger Soccer Camp was a huge success with 36 kids ranging from 6 to 17 years of age attending. The camp was held at Hugh Ellard Park July 19-23. Despite the heat, the campers enthusiastically attended each day, with the younger kids camp participating in their version of the World Cup on Friday. The three coaches from Challenger stayed with host families during the week. Robert and Sprint Hawkins hosted Coach Mark Barnes-Davis, and Mark and Christy Sims hosted coaches Ian Hughes and Sam Little. Julie Bennett served as camp coordinator with assistance from Lindsay Dickerson.
Correction
New Kosciusko High School assistant football coach Don Rogers spent the majority of his 30-year coaching career at Alabama high schools. The error was a reporters' mistake. The Star-Herald regrets the error.
