KOSCIUSKO —
The Durant Tigers would travel to Hartfield Academy last Tuesday night and then host McAdams on Friday night and Ingomar Saturday, winning two of the three contests.
The Tigers would defeat McAdams and Hartfield 52-34 and 52-31 respectively, while falling to Ingomar 65-38.
In the Hartfield contest the Tigers would take an 11-8 lead after one quarter of play.
The Tigers would outscore the Hawks in the second quarter 12-7 to take a 23-15 lead into the half.
The Tigers would continue to put up points in the third quarter and again outscored the Hawks 15-12 to take a 38-27 lead into the game’s final stanza.
The Tigers would pour it on in the fourth quarter and pulled away from the Hawks to take the contest 52-34.
The leading scorers for the Tigers were Theodore Haynes with 18 points, Timothy McClendon with 10 points and Schmarcus Steverson with nine points.
In the McAdams contest, the Tigers would find themselves tied after one quarter, 8-8. The Tiger offense would come alive in the second quarter when they outscored the Bulldogs 12-9 to take a 20-17 lead into the intermission.
The Tigers would come out of the half on fire and would pull away from the Bulldogs after scoring 17 points to the Bulldogs four.
The Tigers would now lead 37-21 to begin the fourth quarter.
Durant would score 15 points in the game’s final quarter to only 10 by the Bulldogs and won the contest 52-31.
The leading scorers for the Tigers were Theodore Haynes with 22 points, Denzel Rodgers with seven points and San Antonio Evans as well as Malcolm Brown with four points each.
The Tigers would host Ingomar on Saturday and found themselves quickly behind 10-5 after one quarter of play.
The Tigers would put 17 points on the board in the second quarter to Ingomar’s 10 points and would take a 22-20 lead into the half.
Ingomar would have none of this in the third quarter and outscored the Tigers 25-10 to take a 45-32 lead into the fourth.
Ingomar would score 20 points in the fourth quarter and stepped up defensively as well by only allowing the Tigers to score six points.
Ingomar would win the contest 65-38.
The leading scorers for the Tigers were Theodore Haynes with 15 points, Clay Roby with 10 points and Denzel Rodgers with five points.
The Tigers traveled to Jackson Tuesday to take on the MSD and will travel to Pelahatchie Friday night to take on the Chiefs at 5 p.m.

Myer wins state, Hill finishes third
The third time is the charm for Mitchell Myer at the 4A MHSAA State Track Meet. In 2011 Mitchell finished fourth with 11-00.00 and in 2012 he finished sixth with a leap of 11-00.00. On Monday, May 13, Mitchell vaulted 12-06.00 to capture his fifth victory to stay undefeated for the year.

The Kosciusko Whippets were in good shape after Friday night’s 8-0 win over the visiting Tishomingo Braves, but a set-back in Iuka on Saturday, a 3-2 loss, put the fast dogs’ season in jeopardy.

Tigers finish season 15-13
The Ethel Tigers were fresh off a thrilling first round sweep of French Camp when they traveled to Stringer on Saturday for game one of the best-of-three series.
The Tigers would drop game one 5-3.
Game one had been pushed from Thursday to Saturday due to inclement weather, pushing game two to Monday night in Ethel, to which the Tigers fell once again, 7-2. -
Kosy moves to third round
The Kosciusko Whippets had a bitter taste in their mouths from 2012’s playoff series loss to New Albany in three games.
That taste is clearly better now, and New Albany was once again the foe. -
Kosy boys and girls track head to State meet
The Kosciusko boys and girls track teams participated in the North State Track meet at Pontotoc on May 4 and will be sending one boys and four girls to the Class 4A State Meet at Pearl on May 13
