French Camp Academy recovered from a slow start to take a 40-6 win over visiting Thomastown on Friday night.
The win pushed French Camp, ranked No. 12 in Class 1A by the Mississippi Prep Sports Source, to 4-2 in Region 3-1A play. After visiting Edinburg on Friday night, FCA plays host to Weir on Oct. 30 and then closes out the regular season at West Oktibbeha the following week.
The Panthers are currently in a three-way tie for third in Region 3-1A, but own a win over one of the teams they are tied with — South Leake — and are on a four-game winning streak. The other team tied for third is West Oktibbeha.
French Camp lead Thomastown 7-0 after one quarter of play thanks to a 27-yard touchdown pass from Jesse Hosket to Justin Anderson and Denny Johnson's extra point kick.
The winners added a pair of second quarter touchdown to hold a 21-6 halftime lead.
After Josh Hardin scored on a 15-yard run for French Camp, the visitors scored on a 21-yard run by Larry Nash to cut it to 13-6. The winners responded with a 23-yard punt return by Aro Nebk and a two-point pass from Jesse Hosket to Ben Hosket to make it 21-6.
French Camp picked up third-quarter touchdowns on a 42-yard run by Hardin and a 61-yard run by Anderson. Anderson closed out the scoring with a 5-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.
Grady Henderson led FCA defensively with 12 tackles, while Kawsu Sillah had 10 tackles and two sacks and Deeyon Turner had eight tackles and a sack. Bangali Sillah chipped in with five tackles and two sacks for the Panthers.

STRIDER 2
Jay Murtagh and Hunter Blain connected for a trio of touchdown passes to lead homestanding Central Homes Christian School to a solid 41-2 win over Strider on Friday night.
Murtagh hit on 15-of-21 passes for 22 yards on the night, with Blain making 8 of those catches for 136 yards. C. W. Bishop contributed to the offensive outburst with nine carries for 87 yards and two touchdowns.
Central Holmes led 14-2 at the half thanks to a 32-yard pass from Murtagh to Blain a 12-yard touchdown run by Bishop and a pair of extra point kicks by Cody Lloyd.
The Trojans hit for three touchdowns in the third quarter when Blain catching touchdown tosses of 36 and 23 yards and Bishop racing 60 yards for a touchdown.
The last touchdown of the game came on a 39-yard run by Cameron Dixon.
The CHCS defense was smother, allowing Strider only 223 yards of total offense. Bailey Pepper had 13 tackles and a sack and forced a pair of fumbles, while Wade Self and Lloyd had 10 tackles each for the Trojans.
Central Holmes hosts Immanuel in a key region game on Friday night.

Deer Creek scored 21 consecutive points to take a 21-14 non-division game over homestanding Winona Christian on Friday night.
WCS led 8-0 early thanks to a 46-yard run by Shawn Pee and a two-point conversion run by Jon Morgan Carpenter.
But Deer Creek scored twice in the second quarter to go up 14-8 and added a third touchdown late in the third quarter.
Winona Christian responded with a 13-play, 54 yard drive to cut it to 21-14 on a 1-yard run by Walker Jackson with 8:17 left in the game.
Pee finished with 78 yards on 13 carries to lead the Stars, while Steven Johnson and Ryan Rogers had nine tackles each. WCS visits Strider on Friday night.
