Durant holds on to top spot in MPSS 1A rankings

Durant used a solid 33-10 win over Region 3-1A foe Montgomery County to hold on to the top spot in the Mississippi Prep Sports Source's MHSAA Class 1A rankings.

Weir escaped East Oktibbeha 32-26 in five overtimes to hold on to No. 5 in 1A, while French Camp climbed to No. 12 with its 40-6 win over Thomastown. Nanih Waiya is No. 2, followed by Coffeeville, undefeated Smithville and Weir.

Jackson Academy jumped to the top of the Mississippi Prep Sports Sources' overall Mississippi Independent School Association Rankings thanks to a solid 28-7 win over former No. 1 Washington School.

Lamar School, a 36-0 winner over Winston, holds on to the No. 2 spot, followed by Jackson Prep, Washington School and Pillow Academy.

There were very few other changes in the top five of any of the MHSAA classifications.

Madison Central is No. 1 in 6A, followed by South Panola, Clinton, Oak Grove and Meridian. Ocean Springs slipped from No. 4 to No. 10 with a 21-16 loss to Harrison Central.

In Class 5A the top three remained the same with Wayne County at No. 1, followed by West Point and West Jones. Ridgeland used a 35-7 thumping of Callaway to vault to No. 4, followed by Picayune at No. 5.

The top five was intact in Class 4A, with Itawamba AHS, Shannon, Noxubee County, Lafayette County and St. Stanislaus leading the way.

There was no movement among the top 13 teams in Class 3A. Tylertown is No. 1, followed by Morton, Charleston, Perry Central and Booneville.

West Bolivar holds on to the top spot in 2A, followed by Bassfield, Ackerman, Eupora and Puckett.
