McAdams tumbles late to Ray Brooks

By Austin Bishop

Moments after their heartbreaking 8-7 loss to Ray Brooks on Friday night it looked as if McAdams' hopes of making the MHSAA Class 1A Playoffs were over.

But then, the results started pouring in. One of those scores proclaimed Greenville St. Joseph's 32-20 win over Coffeeville. That kept McAdams in the hunt.

"If we win our next two games, we can still make it," said McAdams head coach Ras Bayles. "We played hard and so well on Friday night, but just came up a little short. I think we can still do this. We just have to believe."

The loss to Ray Brooks, ranked No. 8 in Class 1A according to the Mississippi Prep Sports Source, made things a little tougher though.

The 4-4 Bulldogs visit Coffeeville on Friday night before closing out the regular season at home against Greenville St. Joe on Nov. 6.

It looked like McAdams was going to beat Ray Brooks when the Bulldogs took a 7-0 lead over the visitors on a 3-yard run by Kentwain Mosley late in the fourth quarter.

But Ray Brooks came right back to score the winning points and two-point conversion with just more than a minute left to play.

"We just didn't have time to come back and score," Bayles said.

Tyrell Anderson led McAdams with 46 rushing yards on four carries, while Mosley had 38 yards on nine attempts and LaDarrius Harvey 37 on eight.

Mosley also had 14 tackles for the Bulldogs, while Christian Martin had 11 and Malcolm Fisher nine.
