Cassiana Primer scored all four of her field goals in the second quarter to spark the Lady Whippets of Kosciusko High School to a 72-48 win over homestanding Ethel in girls high school basketball last week.
"The game was kind of up-and-down for awhile, but she (Primer) really just kind of took over," said first-year KHS head coach Elyse Aldridge. "She's a real good point guard with great court sense. She's not going to force something that is not there."
Primer finished the game with 10 points, with all of those coming in the first half. Jessica Miles led Kosy in scoring with 22 points, while Jasmaine Harris scored 10 and Kurlysha Bell added seven.
The Kosciusko boys team was set to open its season at home on Tuesday against J.Z. George, while the Whippets and Lady Whippets are set to visit Thomastown on Friday.
"I'm expecting the teams we are playing this week to be quick and well-coached," said Aldridge on Tuesday afternoon prior to her team's game with J.Z. George.
