The Ethel Tigers powerlifting team finished third at the Class 1A Powerlifting Meet and advances seven lifters to the State Meet to held on Saturday, April 13 starting at 9 a.m.
Hunter Chisholm was the “Best Lightweight Lifter” at the meet. He lifted a total of 1,070 pounds to win the 165 pound weight class.
In the 114-pound class Jermaine Riley lifted a total of 595 pounds for first place. Sage Graham finished second in the 132-pound class with total of 755. Cosie Veasley won the 148-pound class with a lift of 820 pounds.
Terrance Barnett finished third in the 148-pound class with a total lift of 770. Justin Self was third in the 181-pound class with a total lift of 880 pounds.
Deshun Dotson won the 308+-pound class with a total lift of 1,100 pounds.
Emmitt Erving finished fifth in the 308-pound weight class with a total of 865 pounds but will not advance to the state meet.
Pelahatchie and Bogue Chitto tied for first place with 46 points and Bogue Chitto won on the tiebreaker. The other team places were Ethel third with 40 points, Nanih Waiya fourth with 25 points, Noxapater fifth with 22, St. Aloysius sixth with 11, West Lincoln seventh with seven and Sebastopol eighth with four.
Each participate has three lifts to execute.
They are the squat, bench press and the dead lift.
