No luck for Irish against Panthers

FRENCH CAMP —

The French Camp Academy Panthers traveled to Greenville last Friday night to take on the St. Joseph Fighting Irish and came away with a 30-0 shut out of a key Region 2-1A foe. 

The Panthers are now 5-2 overall and 4-0 in region play. 

The Panthers scored in the first quarter on a 15-yard touchdown pass from Jesse Hosket to Lavondra Carter, Sam Gould kick was good, to take a 7-0 first quarter lead. 

The Panthers scored again in the second quarter on a Jaylon Clemons 28-yard touchdown run, PAT failed, and now led the Irish 13-0. 

Shortly thereafter, Jesse Hosket found Hagan Box from 44 yards out, Gould kicked, to take a 20-0 lead into the half. 

The Panthers only score in the third quarter came on a 37-yard field goal by Gould.  French Camp now led 23-0 at the end of three and would score once more in the fourth quarter on an eight-yard touchdown pass from Jesse Hosket to Cole Henson. 

This last score would push the final to 30-0 in favor of the Panthers.  Offensively, the Panthers were led by quarterback Jesse Hosket who was eight of nine passing for 122 yards and three touchdowns with one interception, and carried the ball 11 times for 16 yards as well. 

Jaylon Clemons carried the ball 28 times for 179 yards with a touchdown while Hagan Box had seven carries for 32 yards, and three receptions for 57 yards and a touchdown.  Defensively, Ben Hosket led the Panthers with 15 tackles, Clemons with 11 tackles and Cortez Johnson with seven stops. 

The Panthers will travel to take on Region 2-1A foe Coffeeville Friday night at 7 p.m.
