The Kosciusko Whippets hosted the Louisville Wildcats last Friday night in a Region 4-4A match up that resulted in a Whippet loss, 28-20.
The Whippet season record now stands at 2-6 overall and 0-2 in region play.
The Whippets drew first blood when Jabri Selmon rushed one in from three yards out with less than three minutes remaining in the first quarter to take a 6-0 lead after a failed PAT.
The Wildcats were able to get on the board early in the second quarter when Wildcat quarterback Wyatt Roberts found Desmond Goss for a 31-yard strike, PAT good, to take a 7-6 lead over the hosts.
Shortly thereafter the Wildcats regained possession and marched back down the field scoring on a one-yard run by Roberts to take a 14-6 lead.
The Whippet offense stalled throughout the second quarter and the Wildcats were able to once again find the end zone when Roberts found Dontea Jones with a 30-yard strike to take a 21-6 lead into the half.
The Whippet defense stood strong in the third quarter and did not allow Louisville to find the end zone, but unfortunately the Wildcat defense stood strong as well and the score remained 21-6 entering the fourth quarter.
The Whippets were able to find the end zone in the fourth quarter when quarterback Tim Wade connected with Jamari Roby from 18 yards out for a touchdown to pull the score to 21-12, in favor of the Wildcats.
The Wildcats were able to score once again on another one-yard run by Roberts and now led 28-12 late in the fourth quarter.
The Whippets continued to fight and scored once again when Wade ran one in, conversion good, to pull within eight points of the Wildcat lead with less than three minutes remaining.
Time ran out on the Whippets, and the Wildcats won 28-20. Offensively the Whippets were led by quarterback Tim Wade who was six of 22 passing for 69 yards and a touchdown with one interception.
Wade also carried the ball six times for 40 yards and a touchdown.
Selmon had 14 carries for 52 yards and a touchdown while Jerrell Jackson had three carries for 19 yards.
Deavalon Edwards had five attempts for 11 yards as well.
Roby caught four passes for 45 yards and a touchdown, Selmon caught two passes for 21 yards and Daquan Forrest had one catch for three yards.
Defensively Kendric Riley led the Whippets with 10.5 tackles, Austin Arnold with six tackles Kendrick Pittman with 5.5 tackles and Orlando Hill with five tackles.
The Whippets will host Leake Central Friday night in another Region 4-4A contest at 7 p.m.
