ETHEL —
The Ethel Lady Tiger softball team started off district play with a convincing 16-1 victory over McAdams.
Haley Breazeale pitched three solid innings only allowing one walk and one run. Defensively the Lady Tigers played extremely well while committing no errors in the game.
Offensively Lauren Bouchillon, Shelby Varnes and Juliyah Erving led the Tigers with all collecting multiple hits.
One of Erving’s multiple hits was a three-run home run in the first inning.
Taylor Hannah, Haley Breazeale, Lindsey McNeal, Avery Bouchillon and Brooklyn Whitman also hit the ball really well by driving in runs throughout the game.
The win put the Lady Tigers at 1-0 in the district with a big district game against Weir next Monday night.
Earlier in the week Ray Brooks defeated the Lady Tigers in a non-district game.
The loss dropped their record to 6-4 on the season with nine games remaining.
“I’m really looking forward to getting into district play,” said head softball coach Chris Schuster. “The girls are really showing a lot of hustle and determination out on the field.”
The Lady Tigers will travel to West Lowndes on Thursday night for a non-district contest starting at 5 p.m.
Next Monday, the Tigers will travel to Weir for a 4 p.m. contest.
