Ethel Lady Tigers Set For Homestand

From Special Reports

ETHEL — The Ethel Lady Tiger softball team pushed its record to 6-2 on the season by splitting four games this past week.

The Lady Tigers started the week with a convincing win over Nanih Waiya 10-3. Reece Austin got the win for the Tigers, going seven strong innings. Anna Dotson and Juliyah Erving both had bases-clearing triples in the game to break open a very competitive contest.

Shelby Varnes, Myronice Alston and Lindsey McNeal all had key hits for the Lady Tigers in the ballgame.

Over the weekend the Lady Tigers traveled to Sebastopol for a three-game tournament. The five-game winning streak came to an end with some costly errors in the last inning against Lake, with the Lady Tigers dropping a 9-8 decision.

Lauren Bouchillon, Taylor Hannah and Brooke Self had key hits for Ethel.

In a 15-1 loss to Sebastopol  some new faces played a strong four innings against a good Lady Bobcats team. Good outfield defensive play and some hits by Madeline Sims and Lindsey Adcock kept the game close.

In the nightcap the Lady Tigers rebounded with a 7-3 victory over Pisgah. Austin again pitched a strong game with only one walk. The defense played a lot better making a lot of two out bases juiced pays that kept the Lady Tigers ahead in the ballgame.

Tiffany Merritt had a huge two-run single that broke the game open along with some great plate discipline was the difference in the ballgame.

The Lady Tigers are at home the next two ball games with both of them in district play. Thursday's game with East Oktibbeha starts at 4:30 p.m. and Monday's FCA contest begins at 4 p.m.
