McClain too much for Tigers

DURANT — The Durant Tigers traveled to Lexington on Thursday December 20, to take on the J. J. McClain Mustangs and lost the contest 82-62.  

The Mustangs jumped on the Tigers early and led 20-10 after one quarter of play.  

The Mustangs further increased their lead, outscoring the Tigers 26-14 in the second quarter, to take a 46-24 lead into the half.  

The Tigers were again outscored by the Mustangs in the third quarter 18-13 and Durant found themselves in a 64-37 hole as they entered the fourth quarter.  

The Tigers were able to get their offense going in the fourth quarter and outscored the Mustangs 25-18, but the damage had been done and they lost the contest 82-62.  

The leading scorers for the Tigers were Theodore Haynes with 20 points, Demario Trotter with 15 points, Timothy McClendon with 10 points and Paul Simpson with seven points.  

Durant will play in the Winona Classic on Saturday.
