KOSCIUSKO —

The Kosciusko Whippets traveled to Macon last Tuesday for a Region 4 contest with Noxubee County and lost both the boys and girls contests 73-48 and 58-32 respectively.  The Whippets would then travel to Caledonia on Friday night for another Region 4 contest where the boys fell in a heartbreaker 61-58, but the girls were able to claim a Region 4 victory and are now 1-3 in region play.

In the boys game the Whippets fell behind early to the Confederates 18-10 in the first quarter.

The Whippets would then outscore the Feds in the second quarter 20-17, but still trailed 35-30 at the half.

The Whippets would struggle offensively in the third quarter and trailed 51-35 at the start of the fourth quarter.

The Whippets made an offensive run in the fourth quarter, tying the game at one point, by outscoring the Feds 23-10.

Jamari Roby scored 14 fourth quarter points for the fast dogs but that would not be enough to overcome the host team and the Whippets would lose the contest 61-58.

The leading scorers for the Whippets were Jamari Roby with 29 points, Rajheem Jamison with nine points, Jerrell Jackson with seven points and Kyesun Jackson with six points.  “We play hard,” said Whippet head coach Shelby Kuhn.  “I was proud of the way they came back in that ballgame when it looked like it was over.”  The Whippets will host the Houston Hilltoppers Friday night at 6 p.m.
