After much adversity, the Williams-Sullivan Yellowjackets have qualified as the #2 seed from the south in Class 2A.
The Yellowjackets, fresh off winning the Region 5-2A Tournament, defeated Mize 83-63 in a play-in game for a bid to the Class 2A South State Tournament.
The Yellowjackets then played Union on Thursday in the first game of the South Tourney and won 78-46.
The Yellowjackets then played and defeated Bay Springs in a close game, 52-50, which locked them into a bid to play in the Class 1A State Championship in Jackson.
Williams-Sullivan played Bassfield for a chance at the South State Championship but came up short, losing the contest 84-67.
This loss made the Yellowjackets the #2 seed from the South and they will play Baldwyn, the #1 seed from the North, at 8 p.m. Friday night.
