Virginia Davin Morris and William Webster Ford were united in marriage on November 8, 2008 at six o’clock in the evening at the First United Methodist Church in Canton.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Loy Morris of Canton. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. William Barnett Phillips and the late Mr. Phillips of Canton. She is also the granddaughter of Mrs. James Arthur Morris and the late Mr. Morris of Kosciusko.
The groom is the son of Dr. and Mrs. William Reynolds Ford, Jr. of Columbus. He is the grandson of the late Dr. and Mrs. George Spencer Barnes of Columbus and the late Mr. and Mrs. William Reynolds Ford, Sr. of Kosciusko.
The ceremony was officiated by Dr. Joseph Landrum. Prelude and nuptial music was provided by the Magnolia String Quartet.
The bride, escorted by her father, wore an ivory silk and lace gown by Pronovias. It featured a scalloped neckline, beaded and re-embroidered lace, hand -beaded lace appliqués and it flowed into a chapel-length train. Her handmade single-tier illusion veil was edged in beaded lace. She carried a bouquet of hand tied cream roses and white hydrangeas. The stems were wrapped in an ivory satin ribbon and handkerchiefs given to her by both of her grandmothers.
Attending her sister as maid of honor was Claire Elizabeth Morris. Bridesmaids were Elizabeth Spencer Ford, sister of the groom; Jane Taylor Foster, Macy Chester Lancaster , Sara Neal Holder Manibo, Jamie Elisabeth Rasberry, Elisabeth Barnes Steele, Melissa Marino Triska, Amy Elizabeth Walker and Jessica Leigh Walton, cousin of the bride .
Readers were Lisa Kae Barker and Jennifer McRae Gordon. Samuel McKenzie Swartzfager and Lauren Elizabeth Swartzfager, cousins of the bride, served as acolytes.
The groom’s father, Dr. William Reynolds Ford, Jr. , served as best man. Groomsmen were Michael Wesley Duckworth, Jaye Edward Germany, Daniel Scott Jackson, David Wayne Jackson, Charles Alexander McQueen and Randall Burt Smith.
Ushers were Harrison Hansbrough Russell, II and Matthew Joseph Nicholas.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a reception at The Jiggetts Home in Canton where guests enjoyed dancing to the music of Class Reunion. One of the tables was decorated with an Ole Miss tailgating theme since the couple met in the Grove. As the couple departed, family and friends gathered on the lawn and showered the couple with rose petals.
On the eve of the wedding, the groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at the University Club and afterwards the music was provided by Swing Shift.
Following a honeymoon to the Caribbean, the couple is at home in Jackson.
