BRANDON —
Megan Leigh McMahon and Justin Allan Lucas were united in marriage at 4 p.m. on March 6, 2010 at Crossgates United Methodist Church in Brandon.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Steve McMahon of Brandon and granddaughter of Mrs. Melba Nail and the late George Nail of Kosciusko and the late Mr. and Mrs. Harold McMahon of McAdams.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Zach Lucas of McCalla, AL, and grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Milton Lucas of West Blocton, AL and Mrs. Addie Williamson and the late George Williamson of West Blocton, AL.
Rev. John Moore officiated the double-ring ceremony. Nuptial music was provided by Celia Lymberis. Bridal book and program attendants were Kimberly Lowery and Brooke Molen. Lori Nail served as wedding director.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father the bride wore a designer gown of white taffeta fashioned with a strapless modified sweetheart neckline. The fitted bodice was enhanced by ruched taffeta. The dropped waist was accented by asymmetrically ruched taffeta centered by a crystal brooch that adorned the draped effect of the full a-line skirt. A chapel length train swept from the skirt. She wore a single-tiered, fingertip length veil edged in pearls and crystals. She wore a pearl necklace that was a gift from her maternal grandmother. She carried a rounded cluster bouquet in shades of cream and white with stock, calla lilies, hyacinths, lisianthus, and alstroemeria. The stems were wrapped with a cream colored satin ribbon and overlaid with a creamy gold sparkle ribbon. Tucked in her bouquet was an heirloom handkerchief borrowed from her mother in law.
Attending the bride as maid of honor was her sister Allison McMahon. Bridesmaids were Emily Marshall, Lori Weems and Jennifer Nelson.
The bride’s attendants wore strapless floor length gowns in latte satin. They carried clusters of cream and white lisianthus, stock, light blue delphiniums, green button poms, and hypericum. The stems were wrapped with cream satin ribbon and overlaid with narrow ivory ribbon with a gold edge.
The groom’s brother, Josh Lucas served as best man. Groomsmen were Tavis Franke, Ben Carver and Phillip Weisenberger.
Following the ceremony the bride’s parents hosted a reception at the Northpointe Red Barn.
The bride’s cake table featured a three tier traditional cake decorated with the couple’s initial and fresh flowers. The couple cut the cake with a knife engraved with the dates of the bride’s maternal grandparents wedding and 50th anniversary. The groom’s table featured a two tier chocolate cake accented with chocolate covered strawberries and a fedora shaped cake covered in houndstooth fondant reminiscent of the fedora worn by the legendary Bear Bryant. The groom’s cakes were cut with a knife engraved with the couple’s wedding date. Guests danced to the music of Busted Screen Door and enjoyed a catered buffet. The couple departed in a black 1957 Chevrolet owned by a family friend.
On the eve of the wedding the groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at C-Paws Restaurant.
After honeymooning in Jamaica the couple is at home in Alabama.
