Holly Kaylin Tanner and Joshua Micheal Steele were married in a beachside wedding on July 19, 2010 at 6 p.m. in St. Augustine, Fla.
Holly is the daughter of Ms. Patty Tanner of West, and Mr. Scotty Tanner of Ethel. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Marie Tanner and the late John W. Tanner of Ethel, Ms. Betty Self of West, and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Self of West.
Josh is the son of Mrs. Melanie Kirkland of Philadelphia and Mr. Micheal Steele of Decatur. He is the grandson of Mrs. Ethel Steele and the late Clifton Steele of Newton, and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Chamblee of Union.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a breathtaking strapless mermaid white satin gown with swallow train. Her single mid-length veil cascaded from white orchids. She carried a hand tied bouquet of while lilies and white roses.
Michelle Self of West served as matron of honor. Brooke Self of West and Courtney Allbritton of Ethel served as bridesmaids. All wore turquoise blue dresses and carried a single stem green mum. Flower girl, Baylee Self, of West wore a white dress and carried a kissing ball made of white roses. Junior flower girl, Katie Self, carried a basket of red rose petals.
Micheal Steele of Decatur served as best man. Jamie Vance of Southaven and Jason Armstrong of Wetumpka, AL, served as groomsmen. Ring bearer was Aubrey Self of West.
Rev. Donald Self officiated the double ring ceremony and Barbara Self of West directed the wedding.
The bride’s parents hosted a reception at the Milano Room in St. Augustine. The tables were decorated with white linen cloths, turquoise candles, and white sea shells.
The five tiered white fondant wedding cake was decorated with turquoise ribbon and cascading flowers.
Guests were served a garden salad followed by boiled shrimp, barbeque chicken and complementary sides.
The couple shared their first dance to the music of “Then” by Brad Paisley.
Parents of the groom entertained the wedding party, family and out of town guests on the eve of the wedding with a rehearsal supper at the beach house on St. Augustine Beach. The couple enjoyed the remainder of the week in St. Augustine Beach.
The bride was honored with a miscellaneous bridal shower on June 27 at Tabernacle Methodist Church where she received many useful gifts. Hostesses were Joyce Pinkard, Lisa Dendy, Shirley Rone, Claire Burchfield and Elizabeth Belk.
