Heather Maria Wilson of Kosciusko and Charles “Charlie” Monroe Moody of Louisville, Mississippi, were married in a private ceremony on June 6, 2009 in the chapel of Statesboro Baptist Church in Statesboro, Ga.
Dr. Stewart Moody of Statesboro, brother of the bridegroom, conducted the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Celina Wilson of Kosciusko and Mr. Marc D. Wilson of Madison. The groom is the son of Mrs. Carol Moody and the late Rev. Charles “Chuck” Moody of Louisville.
The bride wore a two-piece ensemble of all-natural fabrics of cotton and linen. Enhanced by a lace camisole, her crisscrossed off-white cotton top was edged with delicate lace repeated on the scalloped edges of the bodice sleeves and tail. A wide ivory satin sash draped at her left waist. The double ten-gored tea length skirt of ivory linen matched her linen bow knot espadrilles.
The bridal bouquet was made of a single large white hydrangea surrounded with white roses. Delicate lace fern and the bride’s baby bonnet linen handkerchief served as the framework around her bouquet.
The chapel was decorated with large potted plants and a single ivory wicker basket filled with deep fuchsia hydrangeas and yarrow.
Following the ceremony, the couple and their immediate family shared a noon meal at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Stewart Moody of Statesboro.
The bride added a brown straw cloche with an ivory band to her wedding ensemble as they departed for their honeymoon to Savannah and Tybee Island, Ga., Hilton Head Island and Charleston, S.C., and Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, Tenn.
Upon the couple’s return from their trip, a wedding reception celebrating the couple’s marriage was held at Legion Lodge in Louisville.
Against the backdrop of the 1930s rustic hand-hewn rafters in the timbered lodge with large stone fireplace, were antique wicker baskets filled with various colored hydrangeas and other garden flowers and greenery. Large Boston ferns were placed on antique fern stands and other architectural points of the lodge. A registry table was decorated with early pictures of the bride and groom along with wedding pictures. A perpetual slide show of their wedding played for guests to view their earlier wedding.
After a blessing by Rev. Cornell Daughtry, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church of Louisville, guests enjoyed a buffet meal followed by desserts of wedding and groom’s cakes. The ivory three-tiered square wedding cake was the creation of Mrs. Karla Tate of Kosciusko. With basket-weave design icing, the top tier was crowned with gum paste calla lilies and miniature flowers on the bottom tiers.
The groom’s favorite homemade fresh apple cakes were prepared by Mrs. Carol Moody, mother of the groom, using a Moody family traditional recipe. The punch was served from the groom’s great-grandmother’s antique Fostoria glass punch bowl.
Both bride and groom are graduates of Mississippi State University. They are making their home in Louisville where both are self-employed.
