KOSCIUSKO —
Resignations and hires were taken care of by the Attala County School Board during the September 2 meeting held in the Attala County Board of Supervisors meeting room at the Chancery Building.
John Rueben Cox, a Kosciusko-Attala Career and Technical Center instructor, resigned and will be replaced by Bobby Crowe.
Attala County School Superintendent Bryan Weaver told the board that Crowe, a retired teacher, had a number of years working in construction and is a good fit for the building trades position.
Cafeteria employee Annie Ray Davis’ retirement was accepted and the resignation of Subrina Atterberry from the Greenlee cafeteria was accepted. Margaret Haynes was hired as a cafeteria work at Greenlee and Leonard Brown as a bus driver at Long Creek Elementary.
The board approved the following:
– Meeting minutes from August 6
– E-Policy Section D of Attala County School Board Policy
– McAdams Band Director Marshall Hughes’ granddaughter to attend Long Creek Elementary at a reduced tuition rate of $200.
– Ethel High School teacher Julie Harmon’s daughter, Alana to attend Greenlee Elementary School.
– Release Ava Bell from Greenlee School. She will be attending Forest Elementary, where her mother is employed.
– Forestry department to set the land lines of 16th Section property 16-14-8
– Tree removal from 16-16-7 at the leaseholder’s expense. The tree is endangering a structure on the property.
– Consent agenda – Travel, school trips, removal of fixed assets and bus easements for Bobby Lambert, Teresa Marter, Jacinta Gibson and Larissa Morgan.
– Financials – claims and the activity and club accounts.
– Refund cafeteria money to two Greenlee students, Alexis and Elizabeth Hobson, who moved out of the area. The check will be dispersed for $70.
– Award LaKeisha Vaughn a stipend for riding the school bus with a handicapped student in need of assistance.
– Purchase Apple software and products for the Kosciusko Career and Technology Center.

New E911 system installed for city, county
When a call is placed to the Attala County E-911, dispatchers are able to quickly pinpoint the location of the caller through a digital map on a computer screen thanks to a new top-of-the-line operating system.

Forty-three members of Kosciusko civic clubs met in the City Hall Tuesday night. They formed an organization called the Natchez Trace Tourist Attraction Association of the Chamber of Commerce. Jones Woodward was elected president of the new group.
