Kosciusko Middle in top 1 %

KOSCIUSKO — Kosciusko Middle Elementary was recently recognized as a “High Performing School” from the Mississippi Department of Education.

The new accountability label is based on three consecutive years of meeting high academic benchmarks at both the state and federal levels.

“We are thrilled to be recognized for the hard work our faculty and staff puts forth each and every day,” John-Mark Cain, KME principal, said. “Our students worked extremely hard and I hope they are proud of this accomplishment too.

In addition to this new recognition, Kosciusko Middle boasts the highest overall scores in the Kosciusko School District during the 2011-2012 school year with a Quality Distribution Index of 209, which Cain adds is a “great accomplishment for our school and the community which we serve.”

Only 10 schools received the “High Performing” reward from the MDE. Students at Middle are tested in reading/language arts and mathematics.
