KOSCIUSKO — Homecoming activities on Friday kicked off with the Kosciusko City School District Parade around the Downtown Square in Kosciusko on Friday afternoon. This year's parade boasted 30-plus entries. The theme was "Catch the Wave."
Autumn Lewis was crowned homecoming queen prior to the game kickoff against Leake Central. The Whippet won over the Leake County Gators on the gridiron.
The Strand shows off its new lighting Friday evening. A lighting ceremony was held Thursday night to celebrate the completion of the facade, signage and roof.
It was a night to take a stroll down memory lane for Kosciusko residents and head to a place where a host of memories were made.

The Kosciusko Whippets were in good shape after Friday night’s 8-0 win over the visiting Tishomingo Braves, but a set-back in Iuka on Saturday, a 3-2 loss, put the fast dogs’ season in jeopardy.
Pioneer Day:Annual French Camp event provided activities for all ages
The historic district in French Camp, located adjacent to the Natchez Trace Parkway, was transformed into an area reminiscent of olden days.
As the saying goes – “If it bleeds, it leads.” The “hard stuff” – murders, wrecks, fires, deaths and the like – has been selling newspapers and upping the ratings of television stations for years.
“Dig Into Reading” is the theme for this summer’s 2013 Summer Library Program co-sponsored by the Attala County Library and the Mississippi Library Commission.
