KOSCIUSKO —
The application for the Economic Development Authority grant to aid in the funding of the Attala Educational Center of Holmes Community College is nearly complete, according to Kosciusko-Attala Development Corporation President Steve Zea.
The expansion of Holmes Community College in Attala County was revealed to the community in January when Dr. Glenn Boyce spoke at the Kosciusko Rotary Club.
The Attala Couny Board of Supervisors has designated the former Milwaukee Electric Tool Building on West Jefferson Street as the site of the new educational center.
A short synopsis of the project and schematic layout of the building were presented to the supervisors on Monday.
The projected cost of the project is $5,134,000 with grant funds factoring in at approximately $4,107,200.
The supervisors have agreed to put up $1 million with Holmes Community College picking up the remainder at $26,800.
The 74,000 square foot building will be remodeled to house classrooms for higher education, continuing education and workforce training as well as labs, a business incubator and the WIN Job Center.
If all goes on schedule, Zea said that Holmes could be in the new building by the fall 2013.
