Sheriff alerts public of jury duty scam

KOSCIUSKO — Attala County Sheriff Tim Nail wants the public to be aware of a scam that has hit the county.

Nail said that some residents have received calls or text messages about their name being published in a newspaper because they haven't showed up for jury duty.

He added that they have been asked to pay a $500 fine.

Circuit Clerk's office would not publish jurors names, Nail said.

Residents should not give any personal information out over the phone or through other means of communication.

For further information, call the Attala County Sheriff's Department at 289-5556.
