KOSCIUSKO —
The first week of Attala County Circuit Court saw 14 years and one day of prison time dealt out.
Those entering guilty pleas at the Attala County Courthouse were:
–On March 6, William Christopher Dunning received two years with eight years post-release supervision on a grand larceny charge. He was ordered to pay $3,049 in restitution.
–On March 6, Adam D. Love was charged with seven years with five years probation for aggravated assault.
– On March 4, Natasha Lester was sentenced to one day and nine years on one count of obtaining a thing of value with intent to defraud. She was ordered to pay restitution of $1,991.
– On March 4, LaKendrick D. Williams was sentenced to one year and six years post-release supervision on a possession of cocaine charge.
– On March 4, Fredrick B. Miller Jr. was charged with four years with three years post-release supervision for burglary of a building other than a dwelling.
Those entering pleas on February 26 were:
–Louis Charles Carter was ordered to serve one day with four years post-release supervision on a felony shoplifting charge.
–Irvin Hugh Cummings will serve two years with five yeas r post-release supervision on an embezzlement charge and seven years on burglary of a building other than a dwelling. Sentences are to run consecutively.

Ride of Silence held in Kosciusko
Cyclists gathered in Downtown Kosciusko May 22 to take part in the National Ride of Silence. The mission of the world wide ride is to honor bicyclists killed by motorists, promote sharing the road, and provide awareness of bicycling safety.

The Kosciusko Whippets were in good shape after Friday night’s 8-0 win over the visiting Tishomingo Braves, but a set-back in Iuka on Saturday, a 3-2 loss, put the fast dogs’ season in jeopardy.

Relay for Life raises funds
Attala County Relay for Life was held May 10 in the Attala County Coliseum due to threat of rain. The event raised approximately $60,0000. See the photos attached for more about the event.
