KOSCIUSKO —
A pavilion could be built at Parkway Cemetery in Kosciusko in the near future.
Kosciusko Mayor Jimmy Cockfort said he had been approached about putting a Pavilion near the site of where the Aisle of Honor is held.
It would be similar to the one at Kosciusko Lower Elementary, he said.
He added that Attala County Veterans Service Affairs Officer Melvin Gibson has some ideas about fundraising for the project.
The board also heard from Charube Clark about her property on 406 Moore Street.
She told the board that the house was an eyesore but that she had been steadily working to tear it down.
Clark said she plans on re-building a home there.
She was granted a six-month extension and the board will re-visit the issue on April 2.
The board approved the following:
–Contract with Sample and Hicks
–Tax abatement application for the Popeye’s Chicken franchise.
–City’s audit and to pay Windham and Lacey $13,520 for their work on the audit.
–Public hearing for March 19 on the Community Development Block Grant for public facilities project
–Advertise for a deputy court clerk.
– Advertise for bids on acreage near Prairie Farms.
≠– Travel for Kosciusko Police Department’s Greg Collins, Dirk Thayer, Tommy Clark and David White for training.
–Mike Bell to cut the hay at the Industrial Park as he had in previous years.
