Cyclist take ride to raise funds for ACS

KOSCIUSKO — One hundred twenty seven cyclists converged on Kosciusko Saturday morning to participate in a ride on the Natchez Trace Parkway sponsored by Tour ‘d Attala. Riders came from throughout Mississippi, with others from Louisiana, Tennessee, Florida, and Alabama.

Top ten finishers of the ride were Scott Kuppersmith, Peter Reed, Jim Odamel, David Barley, Davis Winsteed, Chris Copeland, John Chandler, Austin Mitchell, Kendrick Gibson and Tyler Marks.

Participants chose either a 23, 44, or 70-mile ride. The 70 mile Little Mountain Ride took cyclists to the summit at Jeff Busby. Jeff Busby or Little Mountain summit is one of the highest points in Mississippi at 603 feet above sea level.

Race directors were Piccolar Johnson, Al Chadick and Donna Holdiness.

The event was sponsored by Prairie Farms, Kangaroo Crossing, Wal-Mart, Performance Gel, and Road ID.

Riders gathered on the parking lot across the street from the Kosciusko-Attala Development Corp. office on Jefferson Street with KADC personnel helping with organization and registration. From the parking lot they were escorted by the Kosciusko Police Department to the Natchez Trace to begin the ride at 7 Saturday morning.

The ride benefited the American Cancer Society.
