Sunflower No.11 closing, expansion in the planning for sister store

Sunflower No. 11

KOSCIUSKO — Sunflower Store No. 11, located on Highway 12 west, is closing after a number of years in operation in the former Jitney Jungle location.

Owner Roy Sims said special sales on the store’s stock will be held during the last two weeks of this month with the store to officially close on March 31.

Sims said about half of the store’s employees are being transferred to Sunflower No. 10 on Highway 12 east and others are being offered jobs in other Sunflower stores in the state. Sims and Harold Potter own and operate 13 stores in Mississippi.

According to Sims, plans are in the works for enlarging the other Kosciusko store this fall or early next year. He said an expansion is planned for the meat, produce, dairy and frozen food departments with the addition of 5,000 square feet of selling space.

“We appreciate our customers and invite all to shop the other store where you will see a lot of the same faces as we continue the same service,” said Sims.
